Third Broadband Thursday

January 17th at Telecom ParisTech

For this third edition, Broadband Thursday moved to a place well known for its potential in talent and creativity: the site of Telecom ParisTech in the 13th Arrondissement (neighbourhood) of Paris.

It was also an opportunity to meet the incubator Telecom ParisTech, managed by Mr Hugues Billaudot, which has spawned a number of well known companies.

We also had the honour of having the event covered by webTV of Orange innovation.

On the program for this 3rd edition we had:
  • Robopolis with its Chairman Bruno Bonnell: new growth area with 3 figure value, robots for the family will, in the coming years, open very important opportunities for many players. We will perhaps one day see in France a goal similar to that officially set by the Korean government of a robot per household in 2010.

  • Enchanted Objects: wifi widgets for each room in the house, David Rose founder of Enchanted Objects and ex-founder of Ambient Devices, has presented his vision of screens dedicated to a sole purpose of just the information that we hold at heart where it is most needed on a daily basis: weather forecasts, news, sports scores, statistics Facebook and more.

  • Sofinnova Partners: services and robotics are the most promising areas, according to Alain Rodermann partner at Sofinnova, who just had gotten back from the latest CES in Las Vegas. We must now start soon in this new wave of innovation.

  • Price Minister with CEO Pierre Kosciusko-Morizet, with significant growth potential of high-speed Internet access (46% of households connected to the Internet at present), France has many advantages for the development of e-commerce. Technological innovations, such as video, aided by the high-speed, are gradually appearing and allowing players in e-commerce to expand their service offerings and change the purchasing and selling behaviour of their clients.

The evening has been hosted by Dominique Roux, chairman of Bolloré Telecom.
